We finished up DanDaDan season 2 just yesterday, I fucking love that show, it's so good. I love that it
struck the perfect balance between silly and serious. The animation and music is also an absolute treat to the
eyes and ears, every second is just ridiculously good.
Now we're going to move on to the next show! Up next is finishing Madoka Magica, and after that probably
Chihayafuru. We also have Hunter X Hunter going as well, we're about to start the Greed Island arc, so I'm
excited about that.
After finishing Dune I also needed to pick a new book, and since I've done a few sci-fi books in a row, I've decided to go with Babel by R.F. Kuang. It's a historical fantasy set in 1800's London, Oxford specifically. I'm just under halfway through the book, and so far I'm incredibly invested in it. The worldbuilding is amazing, and the themes and social commentaries are really solid. A bit on the nose, but then it is 1800's London, not exactly a time period and place of equality for all. I love how the author sort of info-dumps about language, translation, and etymology throughout the book, it's really interesting to hear about. It also makes a lot of sense, since the book uses language and translation as it's source of magic.
And new music! Florence + The Machine just released her newest album: Everybody Scream. I absolutely
love it, but I kind of expected that. I really loved the 2 tracks that were released early, and Florence just
consistently puts out good music that I love. The one that caught my attention the most during my first listen
was Music By Men. I can't yet really place what it's about since I've only listened to it about twice and
not really sat down for the lyrics yet. I also really like Perfume and Milk.
Halloween was such a great time to release an album, in my opinion. Especially since I don't really celebrate
Halloween, it's not really a thing here in the Netherlands, besides the people that throw parties themselves, we
don't really do trick or treating or any big events or anything. So for me, I got a bit of a treat so I'm not
100%
missing out on the fun.
